Price & Index Uploader: Updating Index Values

Updating Index Values

In order to update index values from .CSV price files, you may use the Price & Index Uploader. This is this is done in the “Import Prices or Indexes” modal window, which can be accessed in one of two areas.

1. Upper menu under TOOLS > INVESTMENTS > SECURITIES AND INDEXES > IMPORT PRICES OR INDEXES
2. Left sidebar under INVESTMENTS > SECURITIES/INDEXES > IMPORT PRICES OR INDEXES

There are three options in the Import window: Import File, File Contains, and Overwrite Any Existing Prices/Values.  The Import File option allows you to browse your local computer for a saved .CSV file containing index values.  We suggest that you store your downloaded price files in a standard place to make it easy to locate them.  The File Contains field allows you to choose whether you are updating Securities Prices or Index Values.  The file to do each looks the same, but it looks for a different set of records in your Advisors Assistant database so it is important to choose the right option.  To update Indexes used as benchmarks in your performance reports, choose Index Values.  The Overwrite Any Existing Prices/Values option should be used if you think previous data is incorrect and needs to be replaced.  When you have changed these options as required, simply select the IMPORT button.

The upload process will take longer for larger files with more indexes and/or dates.  The window returns a list of results to indicate success or failure.  Possible failures include situations where you are trying to add values to an index that isn’t yet in the database.  (See: Maintaining Indexes)  When the upload completes, index returns are automatically calculated in your database and available for selection in your Performance Reports.
